1663 UNITED KINGDOM (Bermuda) - Traffic policeman at Heyl's corner, Hamilton

The road map of Hamilton, the capital city of Bermuda, looks like a matrix, with streets from East to West crisscrossed by roads going from South to North. Among the main streets that run east to west is the bustling Front Street (which is nearest to the Hamilton Harbor). The two main streets that run North-South are the Queen Street and King Street on two sides of Front Street. At the junction of Queen Street and Front Street is the Birdcage, named after its designer, Michael "Dickey" Bird. It was erected for the police so that they could conduct the traffic at the busy intersection, and is still used on occasions. The junction itself is known as Hely’s Corner after a 19th century apothecary who had a shop here.

About the stamps
The first stamp is part of the series Bermuda Mystery Roses, about which I wrote here.

The second stamp is part of the series Art Masterworks - Museum of Bermuda - 25th Anniversary, issued on July 12, 2012.
• Thomas Anschutz - South Shore, Bermuda (35 BMD)
• Ogden Pleissner - St. George’s (70 BMD) - It's on the postcard 1663
• Andre Bieler - Front Street, 1922 (80 BMD) - It's on the postcard 1858
• Dorothy Austen Stevens - Street Scene, Bermuda (Elliott Street) (1.10 BMD)
• Albert Gleizes - La Maison du Gouverneur (1.25 BMD)
• Frank Small - The Welcoming Smile (1.65 BMD)

The last stamp is part of the series Bermuda’s Folklife Part 1 - Arts of Celebration: Gombeys, issued on July 18, 2013. The Bermuda Gombey is perhaps the island’s most recognizable and vibrant cultural tradition. Masked dancers parade through the streets of Bermuda on holidays especially on Bermuda Day, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The troupes of Gombeys are accompanied by a band of musicians usually playing a bass drum, a military-style fife, two snare drums, a triangle, and a bottle.
• the colourful fringed costume and traditional high-top white sneakers of the Gombey in the midst of an intricate dance (0.35 BMD)
• an image of a Gombey mask and headdress (1.25 BMD) - It's on the postcard 1663
• a snare and a bass drum (1.50 BMD) - It's on the postcard 2269
• a detail of a cape (1.65 BMD).
