In 1860 was completed, on top of a mountain, Phra Nakhon Khiri, as a summer palace for King Mongkut (Rama IV). Because over time was found that the palace experienced problems during heavy rains, in 1909 King Chulalongkorn the Great (Rama V) bought a piece of land on the Petchaburi river, just a few kilometers away from Phra Nakhon Khiri, and ordered to build another palace there.
The palace, inspired after the palace of the German Kaiser Wilhelm, was designed by German architect Karl Siegfried Döhring, who also designed several other royal palaces and villas. The construction of the palace, named Phra Ram Ratchaniwet, also known as Ban Puen Palace, began in 1910 and was finished in 1916. Unfortunately, the king didn't get to use the palace, because he died in 1910.
King Chulalongkorn was the first king of Siam, as Thailand was called back then, to travel to Europe in 1897. As a result, many buildings constructed in Thailand during that time were in European style. The architectural style of Ban Puen Palace is early 20th century European and is influenced by both Art Nouveau and Baroque. The building is an impressive, very elegant two storey building with high windows from floor to ceiling and a massive dark colored roof set in a very well kept garden.
About the stamps
The first stamp was issued in 1988 to mark The 100th anniversary of Siriraj Hospital, and depicts king Chulalongkorn (Rama V), the founder of the hospital.
The second stamp is part of the series Rattanakosin Bicentennial, issued on April 4, 1982, to commemorate the bicentennial of the foundation of Rattanakosin, as well as to celebrate all the rulers of the Chakri Dynasty.

In addition, each stamp with a king also has that monarch's initials under Phra Maha Phichai Mongkut, i.e. the Crown of Victory, as well as some of their accomplishments, portrayed in the background.
The third stamp was issued on November 11, 1988, to mark The 120th Anniversary of the King Own's Body Guard.
The last stamp was issued on October 13, 2001, to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Police Cadet Academy of the Royal Thai Police, which was founded in 1901. On it is a portrait of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), during whose reign the Police Cadet Academy was founded. In the background are the police cadet school buildings, while the logo of the Police Cadet Academy is in the top left corner.
