3384 CANADA (British Columbia) - Mount Seymour
Located in Mount Seymour Provincial Park, Mount Seymour is a part of the North Shore Mountains, rising to the north from the shores of Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm to a summit of 1,449 m above the Indian River and Deep Cove neighbourhoods. It is most commonly identified for its ski area of the same name, and as a popular hiking area. It is named in honour of Frederick Seymour, second governor of the Colony of British Columbia. The name is used to refer to the ridge although the main summit is one of several, and is also known as Third Peak.
About the stamps
The first stamp, depicting Basilica of Saint Mary of Health and designed by Georges Bétemps, was issued by France on May 8, 1971, as part of the Europe Stamp 1971 (logo is a chain of O with CEPT in the links - designed by Icelander Helgi Haflidason).
About the second stamp, depicting Hotel de Ville de Bruxelles, and issued by France as part of the Europe Stamp 1973 I wrote here. About the third stamp, depicting Aachen Cathedral and issued by France as part of the Europe Stamp 1972 I wrote here. The fourth stamp, depicting a detail of Bayeux Tapestries with Vikings, is part of a joint issue France - Sweden, issued on March 21, 1994. The last stamp, depicting Lophaster gaini, is part of the minisheet Echinoderms of Adélie Land, about which I wrote here.
