Located in southwestern Slovenia on the Gulf of Piran on the Adriatic Sea, Piran is one of the three major towns of Slovenian Istria. The town has much medieval architecture, with narrow streets and compact houses. It was heavily influenced by the Venetian Republic and Austria-Hungary, therefore the monuments differ greatly from those in inner parts of Slovenia. The Piran town walls were constructed to protect the town from Ottoman incursions.

2816 NORWAY (Oslo) - Karl Johans Avenue in Oslo at the Constitution Day
Norwegian Constitution Day is the National Day of Norway and is an official national holiday observed on May 17 each year. Signed at Eidsvoll on May 17 in the year 1814, the constitution declared Norway to be an independent kingdom in an attempt to avoid being ceded to Sweden after Denmark–Norway's devastating defeat in the Napoleonic Wars. The celebration of this day began spontaneously among students and others from early on.

2794 HUNGARY - Vineyards
The Romans brought vines to Pannonia, and by the 5th century AD, there are records of extensive vineyards in what is now Hungary. Following the Magyar invasion of 896, Árpád rewarded his followers with vineyards in Tokaj. Over the following centuries, new grape varieties were brought in from Italy and France. Most of the production was of white wine. During the Ottoman invasion in the early 16th century, displaced Serbs brought the red Kadarka grape to Eger.

2683 FRANCE (Saint Martin) - A traditional creole house
As in all the islands of West Indies, the simple shape of the traditional creole houses in Saint Martin is compensated by the bright colours and sometimes by chiseled wooden decorations. They were built with small wood shingles used to cover the walls and roofs. Their use became the favourite material due to its numerous advantages. Keeping the house cooler, the wood singles were made of many local woods such as mahogany red, tamarind and mountain soursop or gray pear-tree.

2644 CROATIA (Istria) - Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the Historic Centre of Poreč (UNESCO WHS)
The Euphrasian Basilica is a basilica in Poreč, on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, which, together with a sacristy, a baptistery and the bell tower of the nearby archbishop's palace, forms the most complete surviving complex from early Christianity, and also an excellent example of early Byzantine architecture. The earliest basilica was dedicated to Saint Maurus of Parentium and dates back to the second half of the 4th century. The floor mosaic from its oratory, originally part of a large Roman house, is still preserved.
