1635 SAMOA (Upolu) - Sopoaga Falls
Sopoaga Falls is located at Lotofaga village, on the south coast of Upolu, the second largest and the most populated island of Samoa, at 135m elevation above sea level. Splendid gardens fill the surrounding area, Alongside the path to the viewing area are many different types of Samoan plants and trees which are labeled by their Samoan and scientific names. There is also an area for umu demonstrations and coconut husking. A small entrance fee is charged. If there is no one on site to collect the entrance fee, there is an honesty box available where visitors can pay.
About the stamps
The first stamp is part of the series Angelfishes of Samoa, about which I wrote here. The second is one of the three which form the series Teuila Festival: Teuila Flower, issued in 2013. The third, depicting Chaetodon punctatofasciatus, is part of a series of fishes, issued in 2004. The fourth stamp is part of the series 40 Years of Independence, about which I wrote here. The fifth stamp is part of the series 50 Years of Independence, issued on May 24, 2012. The last stamp is part of the series Savai'i Scenery, about which I wrote here:
