Located at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka Rivers, Kazan is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan, and also one of the largest industrial and financial centers of Russia. TatNeft Arena is an indoor sporting arena with a capacity of 10,000, opened in 2005. The arena is home to Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League.
