1873 SUDAN - Souq Omdurman

In Omdurman,  the second largest city in Sudan, lying on the western banks of the River Nile, opposite the capital, Khartoum, are several multicultural tourist targets and facilities that attract local and international visitors. Souq Omdurman, Souq Libya and Souq Aljilod are considered the largest merchandise spots that make up the scenery at Alshohada, Omdurman's downtown area. As I wrote here, a souq is an open-air marketplace or commercial quarter in Middle Eastern and North African cities.

1309 SUDAN - Archaeological Sites of the Island of Meroe (UNESCO WHS)

The Archaeological Sites of the Island of Meroe, a semi-desert landscape between the Nile and Atbarah rivers (the modern region of Butana), was the heartland of the Kingdom of Kush, a major power from the 8th century B.C. to the 4th century A.D. The property consists of the royal city of the Kushite kings at Meroe (on the east bank of the Nile, approximately 200 km north-east of Khartoum), the nearby religious site of Naqa and Musawwarat es-Sufra.

1225 SUDAN (Khartoum) - Masjid Al-Nilin in Omdurman

Built in the 1970s, during the Nimeiry era, in Omdurman,  the second largest city in Sudan, on the western banks of the Nile river, just opposite to the confluence of the two Niles and the capital, Khartoum, Masjid Al-Nilin (or The Mosque of the two Niles) is one of the fine architectural religious venues in the country. The idea and the design was a graduation project ambitious students from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Khartoum. It was the first building praises in Sudan of aluminum and breakers without columns raise the ceiling as it is related to land directly completely Kalsdf. The world's known boxer Muhammad Ali attended the opening ceremony of the mosque.
